The M.Sc. in Economics program will help students gain advanced and rigorous training in modern economics to prepare for a career as a professional economist or analyst, and ability to teach at college level. The program will sharpen problem-solving skills through application of numerical and statistical/econometric methods to have deeper understanding of economic issues. Suitable blend of teaching methods, stressing both on conventional learning tools and active student involvement in the learning process, will equip students with range of transferable personal and intellectual skills required to face challenges in careers in
academia, government, business, finance (Banking sector, local and multi-national companies in different sectors) and the development agencies.
The following skill sets are to be developed during the program:
- Gain knowledge and understanding of advanced economic theories and usage of theories, models to explain real world phenomenon and their policy implications
**Theoretical Understanding skill- The ability to recognize universal features of economic reality.
**Empirical cognitive skill The ability to recognize empirical trends of economic data.
- Attain the ability to combine and apply theoretical knowledge with numerical and statistical/econometric methods to conduct empirical research
**Mathematical (Numeracy) skill The ability to express theoretical insights in mathematical format.
**Statistical and econometric skill The ability to analyze data using techniques of statistical and econometric analysis.
