Webinar at Harvard

Participating Webinars of Harvard University South Asia Institute through CDL

In current times, an advanced level of distance education is through the uses of Webinars- Web-based seminars. While generalized conferencing mediums i.e. Webcase did not allow simultaneous communication, Webinars are widely popular due to its interactive capacities- the ability to send, receive and discuss information. With regards to the School of Business’s collaboration with Harvard University South Asia Institute (SAI), Dr. Sarwar Uddin Ahmed- Dean of SB and member of the team will be participating in their webinar series of Fall 2015.

The Fall 2015 webinar series of SAI will be focusing on using mobile technology to reduce the information gap and promote economic growth within the South Asian countries. Due to the geographical limitations, mobile technology is the premier medium of disseminating knowledge in this part of the world. These webinars will be focusing on exploring the potential of this technology in improving the livelihood of this region. They will be exploring the parameters and applications of mobile technology in different spheres of life, ranging from social networks, patterns and data security to health and disease control. Through webinar software provided by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC), the interactive sessions allow students in this region to interact with the Harvard Faculty, and submit questions on social media. The Centre for Hybrid Learning aims to use the technology akin to webinars in the distant future, with a similar goal of disseminating knowledge to the disadvantaged group and engage academics and professionals in critical issues. Hopefully, the participating members will be able to take away the lessons from these webinars and apply them for the betterment of the centre.
