Dr. Shahriar Kabir is an Associate Professor with the Economics Department. Prior to joining IUB, he worked as a full-time faculty member with Monash University Malaysia for five and half years. Dr. Kabir comes from a diversified academic background. He did his bachelor in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and master in Business Administration. His PhD was in Economics from Curtin University Australia. His principal research interest includes international economics (trade, economic integration, currency union etc.) and development economics (poverty alleviation, education and so on). He worked in a number of research projects on energy economics, commodities and Dutch disease economics. He has presented papers in many international conferences including the ‘Australian Conference of Economists’ and published his works in academic journals such as ‘Economic Papers’ and ‘Review of Rural and Urban Development Studies (RURDS)’. Dr. Kabir received ‘PAFTAD fellowship 2015’ awarded by PAFTAD International Steering Committee (under the Chair of Professor Wendy Dobson, Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto and the International Secretariat coordinated by Emeritus Professor Peter Drysdale, Australian National University). His received the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) in 2016 awarded by Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Malaysia for doing research on the Halal food export prospect of Malaysia. Dr. Kabir has experience of supervising research students at different post-graduate levels including the doctoral candidates. He is actively involved with World Business Institution, Melbourne, Australia and their sister concern of Bangladesh for their research development program in Bangladesh. Dr. Shahriar Kabir is also an associate editor of the International Review of Business Research Papers (IRBRP)
