Trained as an Economics, Prof. Dr. Raisul Awal Mahmood received his post graduate degrees from some of the world class universities. His academic career began as a Lecturer in Economics at Dhaka University, Bangladesh, from where he moved to the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) as a Staff Economist successively moving up to Division Chief. Between 1997 and 2015 be lived in the USA teaching at St. John’s University in New York alongside serving as consultant for various UN bodies and also for New York City government. Prof. Mahmood has to his credit the experience of serving as short-consultant for more than a dozen international organizations such as WB, ADB, ILO, IOM, UNDP, UNICEF, UNCTAD, UNFPA, UNESCAP, UNU, OIC, WHO and SDC. His academic contributions include publications in professional journals, contribution to more than 10 books and monographs, and innumerable reports and conference presentations. Most recently, he served as Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Eastern University, Dhaka. Dr. Mahmood is most passionate about teaching and applied research.
