BAN 541 Management of Commercial Banks (3 credits)
This course is designed to provide the students with tools and techniques to manage commercial banks. The content of the course included: performance evaluation of a bank, asset-liability management, management of various kinds of risks, such as interest rate risks, and also fund management and investment management.

BAN 542 Central Banking Systems (3 credits)
The course is designed to help students understand both the monitoring and controlling authority of the central bank as well as to understand the management operation of the central bank with respect to Bangladesh.

BAN 543 Comparative Banking Systems (3 credits)
The course aims at highlighting the traditional banking system with Islamic banking model to equip the students with modern knowledge and skills in the filed of banking studies. The objectives, system practices, policies, performance and problems of the two streams of banking will be focused under the purview of this course. The learner will be familiarized with the conceptual similarities and contrasts between traditional and Islamic banking systems operating under the free market economy.

BAN 544/FIN 544 Management of Financial Institutions (3 credits)
The course introduces the students to the theory and practice of financial institutions management for the perspective of risk management.  The areas covered in the course include financial intermediation and financial intermediaries, risk of financial intermediation, interest rate risk, market risk, credit risk, foreign exchange risk, liquidity risk, liability management, capital adequacy, hedging with financial derivatives, and asset securitization.

BAN 545/FIN 542 Investment & Portfolio Management (3 credits)
Investment in financial assets (securities) is the focus of this course. Investment decisions require thorough Analysis of risk and return. An understanding of the tradeoff between risk and return is at the heart of investment decision-making process. Topics that will be covered in this course include bond valuation, equity valuation, portfolio diversification, market efficiency and its implications, and capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM).

BAN 546/FIN 546 International Financial Management (3 credits)
This course is designed to acquaint students with tools and techniques used to manage the finance function of a multinational Corporation (MNC). Topics included in this course are: financial environment in which an MNC operates, exchange rate determination, measurement and management of various exchange rate exposure, international capital budgeting, management of short-term assets and liabilities of an MNC.

BAN 547 Bank Fund Management (3 credits)
The course covers structure of commercial and central banking systems, organizations and management of commercial banks, deposits and investments of commercial banks as well as their profitability, capital structure, safety, reserves, liquidity requirements, banker- customer relationships, accounting systems, etc. a general idea is also provided about the specialized banking system in Bangladesh.

BAN 548 Capital Marketb(3 credits)
Financial instruments in capital market; issuers and investors of financial instruments; the role of investment banks; capital markets research and analysis: fundamental analysis, technical analysis, capital market theory: asset pricing models, option pricing models, efficient market hypothesis; equity capital market: primary market, secondary market, bond market: bond pricing, yield curve, swaps markets; options and futures market; capital market arbitrage techniques; overview of capital markets in Bangladesh; regulatory bodies of capital markets in Bangladesh.
