AdVerse is an intra university competition based on advertising. The objective of this competition is to stimulate the students’ imaginations by applying their theoretical knowledge from classes. The Marketing department of Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) created a platform for marketing enthusiasts to participate in the ultimate advertising fight by submitting their finest campaign ideas and strategies, allowing them to realize their dreams. The final part of the competition took place on 20th August, 2022 for enrolled students of Summer-2022.

There was a total of 22 participating teams from different sections of “Advertising” course. Magnito Digital served as the program’s associate partner. Mr. Ishraq Dhaly, Director (Accounts and Servicing) of Magnito digital held a workshop prior to the beginning of the competition. Students gained knowledge of creative briefs and effective campaign planning during the workshop.

There were two rounds in the competition. Each team was given one of three product categories, which were assigned randomly.  The categories were – mineral water, soap, and biscuits. In the first round, participants made static and OVC advertisements and submitted those in ppt format.  From 22 competitors, 9 teams were chosen for the final round. These groups had to present their comprehensive campaign strategy. Judges for the final round included marketing department faculty members and Mr. Ishraq Dhaly.

Team “25 Din Mein Paisa Triple” emerged as the winner of “AdVerse” competition followed by “Checkmate” as 1st Runners Up and “Team XYZ” as 2nd Runners Up. Each team received a crest and certificates by Prof. Dr. Meherun Ahmed, Dean School of Business and Entrepreneurship and other respected judges. Speech by Mr. Ishraq Dhaly brought the celebration to a close. The contests like this would be highly remarkable and a great teaching tool for the students, he remarked, praising the original ideas from the young minds. He continued, “I would like to see this initiative on a larger scale.”

Lastly, the event was a great opportunity for every marketing-interested undergraduate to develop their skills on all fronts, including academically, professionally, and socially. Through the competition, they were able to meet more people and make more connections, and this event helped students build a base with advertising strategies.
