On 7th October, at 3.30 pm the School of Business and Entrepreneurship (SBE) at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) jointly organized and hosted digitally as a university partner the “Meet the Leaders -Open House” with Bangladesh chapter of Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) to promote their premier global competition for students who own and operate a business while attending university, known as Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) Bangladesh, 2020-21. The event was live on the official Facebook page of Independent University, Bangladesh.

Prof. Sarwar Uddin Ahmed Dean (Acting), School of Business and Entrepreneurship, IUB spearheaded the session whose primary objective was to promote the competition and create awareness of the event among the SBE, IUB students, so that they felt encouraged to participate in the event. In his speech, he noted why at SBE, IUB we are training students to be job creators, thereby following the path of entrepreneurship.

Mr. Abul Khair Jyote, Senior Lecturer, Marketing department emphasized the value of such competitions in enhancing the network of students and connecting with already successful entrepreneurs and industry leaders. Dr Ziaul Haq Adnan, Assistant Professor of department of management SBE, IUB discussed the idea of minimum viable product (MVP), a concept from Lean Startup that stresses the impact of learning in new product development while launching a business.

The president of EO Bangladesh, Zareen Mahmud Hossain also gave her valuable speech during the event. She mentioned how she came in close contact with an IUB alumni, Mr. Rubayat Khan, who founded the company “Jeeon” after graduating from Harvard University. GSEA EO co-chair Mr. Ahmed Imtiaz Hassan, Director of Aristopharma, also shared his thoughts with the students. He talked about the turning point in his career where he decided to reject a lucrative job abroad after graduation and followed the road to entrepreneurship in Bangladesh.

The “Meet the Leaders- Open House” online session, was moderated by Mr Iftekhar Mahfuz (Senior Lecturer, Department of Management) SBE, IUB. He concluded the session by thanking the EO team for successfully co-organizing the event.
