The Department of Economics, School of Business and Entrepreneurship (SBE), IUB hosted an online alumni meet-up program on Saturday, 19^th June 2021. Department alumni and faculty members were present at the program. Dr. Samiul Parvez Ahmed, Interim Dean, SBE welcomed the alumni from both the Bachelor of Science (BSc) Economics and Master of Science (MSc) Economics programs. Dr. Meherun Ahmed, Professor, Department of Economics encouraged the alumni in her speech to continue to be a part of their alma mater. Alumni from the Department fondly remembered their time as students at IUB and shared their professional and academic achievements since their graduation. They acknowledged the various ways in which the faculty and the curriculum broadened their perspectives and gave them the courage to overcome challenges that came their way. The alumni also shared areas of improvement in the curriculum and discussed exciting ways in which they can collaborate with the Department to bridge the gap between industry and academia. Dr. Shahriar Kabir, Associate Professor and Head (acting), Department of Economics gave the closing remarks and updated the alumni about recent initiatives taken by the Department. Ms. Nuzhat Sharmeen, Lecturer, Department of Economics, SBE and alumni of the Department moderated the program. Independent Economic Society (IES) assisted with organizing the program.
