Independent HR Society (IHRS), School of Business, IUB organized a social entrepreneurship competition named ‘Young Digital entrepreneurship’ (YDE) with the association of ‘Born To Smile’ and ‘Madaripur-Hilfe e.V.’ on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at IUB lecture gallery-3002. The aim of this competition was to promote social business in Bangladesh using latest technology. A total number of ten groups were selected from a list of umpteen numbers of applicants for the YDE Camp 2016. On the first day those participants went through an intensive mentoring which took place at the Pitch Café on the 2nd of December, 2016. The participants were educated on various issues and were given practical hands-on experiences, guidelines and support for the development of their ideas.

The final competition was held at School of Business, IUB, in front of a panel of five, namely Mr. William Harry Derrenger, Vice Chancellor, Canadian University of Bangladesh; Dr. A.N.M. Shibly Noman Khan, Associate Professor, School of Business, IUB; Mr. Muntasir Alam, CMO of Beximco Petroleum Limited; Mr. Naser Alam, Head of Chambers, MNA Barristers & Advocates; and Mr. Zia Imran, Managing Director, ASIS.

The participants were scrutinized and were scored on the basis of their presentation. The presentations were recorded and have been sent to Germany. The winners has not been announced yet as that will be decided by combining the marks obtained in Bangladesh with the verdict of another panel of judges in Germany. The top teams will be invited to Germany for further training and investment opportunities through the YDE Lab and the YDE Incubator. The Program was led by Mr. Imran Khan, founder of ‘Born To Smile’ and Mr. Shafiqul Alam, Coordinator IHRS.
